
Raúl Casares Guerra is a Spanish oboist with international prospects, whose activities encompass orchestral performance, solo work, chamber music, and teaching. His artistic approach is characterized by a deep commitment to European interpretive tradition, particularly in the Baroque and Romantic repertoires, as well as a solid technical and stylistic training.
He began his musical education at the age of five with piano studies, shortly after starting his oboe studies at the Conservatorio Profesional Hermanos Berzosa in Cáceres. From his early years, he worked with renowned pedagogues such as Heliodoro Carnonell, with whom he completed his professional studies in 2016, the same year he made his solo debut performing Vivaldi’s Oboe Concerto in F major RV 455.


Between 2017 and 2020, he pursued advanced studies at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Castilla y León with Jaime Orts and Sebastián Gimeno, complementing them with masterclasses from Miriam Pastor, José Luis García, and Celia Nicklin. At the same time, he received intensive training in chamber music and symphonic projects, earning honors in Baroque Orchestra.
In 2020, he entered the Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears, where he expanded and refined his instrumental technique under the guidance of Thomas Indermühle, Dudu Carmel, and Bruno Lucas. During this period, he also received artistic direction from renowned soloists such as Ramón Ortega, Petar Hristov, Jaime González, Daniel Fuster, José Antonio Masmano, José María Ferrero, Pilar Fontalba, Arie van der Beek, Juan Rodríguez, and Javier Arnal. Additionally, he worked with several conductors, including Miguel Romea, Cristóbal Soler, Beatriz Fernández, and Salvador Brotons.
His orchestral career has been closely linked to prestigious youth and professional institutions. He has been a member of the Joven Orquesta Nacional de Cataluña (2020), an academy musician with the Orquesta Sinfónica de las Islas Baleares (2021), and a regular collaborator with the Orquesta Joven de Extremadura, returning to the ensemble at various stages since 2016. In 2024, he was selected by the Deutsch-Skandinavische Jugend-Philharmonie, participating in the traditional New Year’s concert held at the Berliner Philharmonie under the direction of Andreas Peer Kähler and Martin Braun.
In the festival circuit, he has participated in three consecutive editions of the Palma Oboe Festival (XI, XII, and XIII), as well as in the VII Festival Internacional de Música Ciudad Monumental de Cáceres, where he has worked closely with professors such as Arie van der Beek, Bruno Lucas, Lourdes Higes, Daniel Fuster, José Antonio Masmano, Dudu Carmel, and Thomas Indermühle.
Throughout his career, Raúl has maintained a deep connection with teaching, balancing his work as a freelance oboist in Spain and Europe with a committed role in training new generations of musicians. His pedagogical approach is based on sharing his love for music, fostering creativity and technical rigor, and providing his students with the necessary tools to perform with authenticity and expressiveness.
With a career that continues to grow and a clear vision for the future, Raúl Casares Guerra is establishing himself as an emerging figure in the European music scene, always in search of new artistic experiences and enriching collaborations that will continue to expand his creative horizons.
